A solar-powered drone backed by Facebook that could one day provide worldwide internet access to 4 billion people around the world who are currently in the dark.

The drone weighs about 1,000lb and has a longer wingspan than a Boeing 747. It runs mostly on autopilot but there are manned ground crews to manage certain maneuvers. Most recently, Facebook is reported to be seeking government approval to test Aquila for delivering LTE access in New Mexico.Though Facebook was hugely criticized over its privacy issues for past several months, the initiative to deliver internet to every possible area, taken by the company is surely praiseworthy.
